Aviation Medicals

Dr Anish Ahmed is our Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME) at Medical Centre at Round Corner, accredited by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to perform aviation medical examinations for pilots and air traffic controllers.

He completed the Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine (ACCAM) through Monash University in 2019, equipping him with advanced training to assess and support the unique health needs of aviation professionals.
Whether you’re applying for your first medical certificate or renewing an existing one, Dr Ahmed provides Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 aviation medicals with professionalism, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of aviation life.

Who Needs an Aviation Medical?

To ensure aviation safety, CASA requires all pilots and air traffic controllers to hold a valid medical certificate appropriate to their role:

• Class 1: For commercial pilots, air transport pilots, multi-crew pilots, and flight engineers (valid for 1 year).
• Class 2: For private pilots and balloon pilots (valid for up to 4 years for applicants under 40).
• Class 3: For air traffic controllers and flight service officers (valid for 2 years).

What to Expect at Your Appointment

• Appointment Duration: Allow approximately 60 minutes for your consultation (excluding any additional tests).
• Medical Assessments: May include an ECG, audiogram, blood tests (glucose and lipids), and referral to an ophthalmologist depending on the class and your age.
• Consultation Location: Available at the Medical Centre at Round Corner.

Before You Book

To streamline your appointment, please provide the following information when booking:

• Your Aviation Reference Number (ARN)
• The medical certificate class you require (Class 1, 2, or 3)
• Any specialist reports or previous test results if applicable
• A list of current medications and prescription eyewear

All applicants must register with CASA and provide a valid ARN before their appointment. If you do not yet have an ARN, please visit the CASA website to apply.
